Vector Control Technician Opening Date: 20 January 2020 Closing Date: 6 March 2020 Openings: We are looking to fill 23 seasonal vector control technician positions in 2020 Starting Wages: $12.50 - $15.00 per hour Hours: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, Monday –Friday Term: Start dates: April 6, April 27, May 4, June 8 (some office work may be available in February or March, for consideration please submit application by 10 February 2020) End date: no later than 30 September 2020; preferrably not earlier than 21 August 2020 Purpose Our mission is to safeguard the health, welfare and comfort of the public by controlling mosquitoes and black flies, with an emphasis on safety, high standards, environmental awareness, cost efficiency, responsibility and leadership. Examples of Duties · Conduct outdoor field work inspecting and treating potential mosquito production sites with pesticide either from a bicycle or using handheld or backpack mounted equipment. · Deploy and retrieve mosquito surveillance traps · Provide information about mosquitoes and mosquito control and avoidance, and mosquito borne diseases to members of the public · Office and laboratory functions Qualifications · Valid driver’s license · At least 17 years old · Able to effectively communicate in English Click below for additional information including a more complete list of duties and qualifications and instructions for application.
